Nader I. Twal serves as Program Administrator in the Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development in Long Beach Unified School District — the fourth largest in CA. An experienced and published Design Thinker, Milken National Educator, and CA Association of Teachers of English in Teaching Awardee, Nader bridges the gap between theory and action, with a body of work that demonstrates the power of listening first and designing second.
Nader Twal was born in the United States, but his Jordanian parents moved the family to the Middle East when he was two years old. When Nader was 13, his parents relocated the family back to the United States to provide better opportunities for their children. While in college at UC Davis, Nader spent a summer in San Jose working with students who were underserved and underprivileged, and this experience changed the trajectory of his life. Believing education is the bedrock of democracy, Nader served nine years as a classroom teacher, two years as a site-level program coordinator and teacher leader, and five years as High School Central Office Linked Learning Coordinator, and now as a Program Administrator of Professional Learning and Curriculum Services in Long Beach, California.
