Coaching expert Jim Knight of the Kansas Coaching Project led an interactive discussion about why and how coaches’ work with teachers should address student engagement. Students who are engaged are more likely to come to class, learn, and ultimately stay in school. This webinar covered how to measure and improve three types of student engagement (behavioral, cognitive, and emotional) as part of an effective coaching cycle. This webinar was based on Jim Knight’s article, “Students on the margins,” from the December issue of The Learning Professional. Participants will: Understand why student engagement matters; Be able to define engagement and understand how to measure it; Gain strategies to increase behavioral, cognitive, and emotional engagement; and Learn a three-stage process for effective coaching.
