ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: How a Florida district evaluates professional learning

As the Title IIA grant facilitator in Broward County (Florida) Public Schools, I know how important it is to demonstrate the impact of professional learning. Like a growing number of educational leaders, I recognize the need to determine when and whether professional learning has an effect on teachers’ instructional practices and student growth and achievement. My colleagues and I want to ensure that we are funneling resources into efforts that have a return on investment and, ultimately, make a difference for students. In 2021, I began researching how to best evaluate the impact of professional learning to inform development and implementation of a comprehensive professional learning evaluation approach for our district.
