DALLAS—December 6, 2011—Learning Forward recognized Karen Anderson and Kathy Kee with the Distinguished Service Award for their unselfish leadership and support of the organization.

Anderson and Kee have served Learning Forward members for over 20 years by advocating for Learning Forward’s purpose and standards, presenting and facilitating numerous conference sessions, and coaching Learning Forward members. Anderson led the Texas affiliate as executive director for eight years, and she continues to support state affiliates and organization initiatives. As a Learning Forward Past President and six-year Board of Trustees member, Kee helped establish long-term goals and policies and supported the staff in its work.

“Karen’s contributions exemplify the meaning of service — giving to others in support of values and principles larger than one’s self interest. She has served Learning Forward, its affiliates, and its individual members in countless ways over many years,” said Dennis Sparks, Learning Forward Emeritus Executive Director. “As a teacher, coach, and writer, she has helped all of us see what was possible in professional learning and skillfully guided us in its creation. Together their outstanding efforts raise the performance bar for those who follow.”

Learning Forward presented the prestigious award at its 2011 Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
