This past December in Denver, Colorado, over 3,000 educators gathered at the Learning Forward Annual Conference. At the event, Learning Forward gave its Policymaker of the Year award to Colorado Governor Jared Polis. Polis served on the Colorado State Board of Education and has invested in education throughout his career. Polis leads “Let’s Get Ready! Educating All Americans for Success,” a National Governors Association initiative aimed at ensuring students gain the skills they need to succeed.
The award was received by Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, who told conference attendees, “You’re not just attending a conference — you’re embracing an opportunity to learn, grow, and strengthen the support systems in your schools and districts.”
During her speech, Primavera spoke to the importance of education as a cornerstone in a thriving society. “As an advocate for this state — whether in my recent public roles or as a private citizen — I know how important it is to use your voice to advocate for continuing support for your community,” she said. “Advocacy is powerful. Don’t hesitate to tell your policymakers that professional learning is key to improving education and must be supported.”
Learning Forward is the only professional association devoted exclusively to those who work in educator professional development. We help our members plan, implement, and measure high-quality professional learning so they can achieve success with their systems, schools, and students.
