The U.S. Department of Education’s 2024 National Educational Technology Plan (NETP) represents a significant educational policy milestone, setting a vision and plan for K-12 learning enabled by technology, according to Learning Forward, a member of the consortium that developed the 2024 NETP. Through its newest iteration of NETP, the Department sets a positive path forward in leveraging technology and connectivity for the good of the nation’s public school students and educators, with an unwavering focus on ensuring edtech’s promise is afforded to all students, no matter their geography, background, or individual context.

High-quality educator professional learning is a centerpiece of the new NETP, which offers recommendations on closing the gap of access to educator training and support in integrating educational technology effectively in their teaching practices. Learning Forward values the opportunity to have worked with U.S. Department of Education, the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), Project Tomorrow, InnovateEDU, and Whiteboard Advisors. We look forward to the action the Plan will spur and to engaging with it amongst our stakeholder community.
