Learning Forward President and Chief Executive Officer Frederick Brown was interviewed by Jim Knight, senior partner of the Instructional Coaching Group, on Knight’s “Coaching Conversations” podcast. The pair discussed the growth of and increased interest in coaching in K-12 education. Coaching’s versatility and potential to drive meaningful change contribute to its popularity as an anchor strategy for districts and states in supporting educator growth, high-performing leadership, and stronger schools. “To advance a new way of acting in your (teaching) practice, you need support,” Brown said. “Coaching provides that support by offering educators guidance, feedback, and opportunities for reflection, enabling them to implement new strategies and refine their practices over time.” Brown also reflected on the evolution of the professional learning field at large and Learning Forward’s 50+ year history, including the growth of the organization’s customized services to districts, states, and provinces worldwide and stewardship of the Standards for Professional Learning.
